Luetkemeyer Statement on Passing of Pachyderm Founder George Parker of Columbia

I was profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of George Parker. George was a pioneer and visionary who inspired generations of Missouri Republicans and Republicans nationwide to become involved in public service and learn more about our great democracy.
U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) today issued the following statement on the passing of George W. Parker, the founder of the national Pachyderm movement, who passed away yesterday in Columbia at age 86:
“I was profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of George Parker. George was a pioneer and visionary who inspired generations of Missouri Republicans and Republicans nationwide to become involved in public service and learn more about our great democracy. George never stopped working for the conservative cause of Missouri Republicans that he himself helped mold during most of his 86 years. As George himself said just 11 days ago during his birthday celebration in Columbia: ‘The reason things happen is because you have a strong desire to make that happen. I tried to convey the idea that we’re all equal and we’re all responsible for the government.’ Jackie and I would like to offer our deepest sympathies to George’s wife, Lois, and their children during this difficult time. George will be greatly missed.”
