“This pipeline not only has contributed to our nation’s move to greater energy independence but also has provided hundreds of jobs and increased tax revenues in the 9th District during its construction and operation,” Luetkemeyer said. “These are the types of projects that help spur economic growth both in Missouri and across the nation and I look forward to the opportunity to visit this state-of-the- art facility in Mexico.”

The Rockies Express Pipeline is a 1,679-mile natural gas pipeline system from Rio Blanco County, Colorado, to Monroe County, Ohio. The eastern portion of the Rockies Express system, known as Rockies Express Pipeline – East (REX-East), traverses approximately 638 miles from Audrain County to Monroe County, Ohio. The East Pipeline provides energy to markets in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

“We are extremely pleased with the role that the people of Audrain County have played in this significant investment in the U.S. energy infrastructure that will help meet the nation’s growing need for energy,” said Allen Fore, spokesman for Rockies Express Pipeline. “We also look forward to working with Congressman Luetkemeyer who is such a strong supporter of domestic energy production and distribution.”

The eastern portion of the pipeline is a development of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P.; Sempra Pipelines & Storage, a unit of Sempra Energy; and ConocoPhillips. All three firms have significant experience in designing, building, owning, and operating natural gas pipelines.
