Luetkemeyer Statement on 67th Anniversary of D-Day

It is still hard to this day to grasp what was at stake as our troops prepared to take the fight to the Axis powers on the beaches so far away from home. I have had the honor to meet some of those who survived the brutal fighting that day and their individual stories of bravery and sacrifice have had a significant impact on my life.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer issued the following statement on the 67th anniversary of D-Day on June 6, 1944:

“It is still hard to this day to grasp what was at stake as our troops prepared to take the fight to the Axis powers on the beaches so far away from home. I have had the honor to meet some of those who survived the brutal fighting that day and their individual stories of bravery and sacrifice have had a significant impact on my life. Each year, there are fewer and fewer of these brave souls who stormed the beaches on June 6, 1944, and that is why it is critical that we continue to commemorate their efforts and their sacrifices that helped free this world of one of the greatest evils our world has ever known. I encourage all Americans to take a moment to remember those who fought and died that day.”
