Luetkemeyer Remembers Tragic Events of a Decade Ago, Looks Ahead to Continued Fight Against Global Terrorism

Today we remember those who lost their lives a decade ago. I encourage all Americans to take a moment to honor the victims and families affected by this unspeakable act of terrorism and to honor the brave first responders who lost their lives trying to save their fellow man from this atrocity.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today issued the following statement in remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001:

“Today we remember those who lost their lives a decade ago. I encourage all Americans to take a moment to honor the victims and families affected by this unspeakable act of terrorism and to honor the brave first responders who lost their lives trying to save their fellow man from this atrocity. In the immediate aftermath of these attacks, Americans came together regardless of political affiliation and personal beliefs and have since been united in disrupting, dismantling and destroying the  agents of terrorism both at home and abroad. We have honored the memories of those we lost by showing a  resilience and resolve in battling international terrorism. While the terrorists may have destroyed some buildings and killed innocent people - a truly despicable act- America is not a set of buildings. America is a set of ideals, a set of principles, a way of life. Despite this tragedy, the American spirit is alive and well. This battle, however, is far from over. The terrible images of September 11, 2001, serve as a stark reminder that our nation must remain united in the ongoing battle against global terrorism.”
