In an effort to improve the quality of life for our veterans, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) supported the passage of bills to help homeless veterans, expand veterans health care benefits and make adjustments in disabled veterans’ cost-of-living compensation.
“Our nation owes much to our brave men and women who served this country with honor and distinction, and they not only deserve our gratitude but also our assistance for their sacrifices in defense of our great nation,” Luetkemeyer said. “Our veterans must be afforded the dignity of a home, access to health care and be justly compensated for their service, and these bills provide for all of that and more.”
Luetkemeyer supported the reauthorization of the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HR1171), which provides dedicated resources and services for homeless veterans, including job training, counseling, placement services and child care services to expedite the reintegration of veterans into the labor force.
Luetkemeyer also supported HR1377, a bill to improve veterans’ access to medical care by expanding veteran eligibility for reimbursement by the Department of Veterans Affairs for emergency treatments performed in non-Department facilities; and the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2009 (HR1513), which provides an increase in compensation for service-disabled veterans and eligible dependents and survivors.
