U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer’s (MO-9) efforts on behalf of his constituents for a better, more efficient government has earned him an appointment to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The House Republican Conference recommended Luetkemeyer’s appointment to this committee.
“I look forward to joining my colleagues in working for a more efficient and effective government,” Luetkemeyer said. “I am honored to represent the fine folks of Missouri’s 9th District as their voice for common sense reform on this new committee assignment.”
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has legislative jurisdiction over the Census, the District of Columbia, the government procurement process, federal personnel systems, the U.S. Postal Service and other matters. The committee’s primary responsibility is oversight of virtually everything government does – from national security, to homeland security grants, to federal workforce policies, to regulatory reform and reorganization authority. Other responsibilities include oversight of information technology procurements at individual agencies to government-wide data security standards.
“Blaine has been a standout freshman Member because of his strong commitment to making government more efficient and effective, and that is exactly why it makes sense for him to serve on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee,” House Republican Leader John Boehner said. “Blaine’s reputation for working hard to protect Missouri’s 9th District taxpayer dollars will be invaluable to the work of the entire committee.”
“Congressman Luetkemeyer’s experience as a bank regulator and his commitment to reining in wasteful spending make him an especially valuable addition to the House’s chief investigative committee.  I’m looking forward to working with him and the important contributions he’s going to make to our oversight efforts,” said Ranking Member Darrell Issa of California’s 49th District.
Luetkemeyer will also serve on two subcommittees on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform: the Government Management, Organization, and Procurement Subcommittee and National Security and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee.
In addition to his new duties on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Luetkemeyer is a member of the House Agriculture and Small Business Committees.
