Luetkemeyer Statement Recognizing Korean War Armistice

Today I honor the supreme sacrifices made by the thousands of Americans and allies who fought and died on the Korean Penninsula to prevent the spread of communism.
WASHINGTON _ Following is a statement from U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) recognizing the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement signed on July 27, 1953.
“Today I honor the supreme sacrifices made by the thousands of Americans and allies who fought and died on the Korean Penninsula to prevent the spread of communism. The commitment of Missourian Harry S. Truman to counter ‘unprovoked aggression’ in the region is still being felt today as North Korea continues to threaten its South Korean neighbor and other nations, including our own. We must not forget that the brave and selfless service of our Korean War veterans so many years ago helped preserve the peace by containing the unabashed North Korean aggression that we continue to fight against today.”
