Luetkemeyer Marks the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion
Washington, DC,
June 5, 2009
As we mark the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, we should all take a moment to honor those whose bravery and sacrifice helped pave the way for victory against an unspeakable evil. As the son of a World War II veteran, I am reminded of the high price so many of our greatest generation paid for our freedom.
Following is a statement from U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer marking the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion of June 6, 1944: “As we mark the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, we should all take a moment to honor those whose bravery and sacrifice helped pave the way for victory against an unspeakable evil. As the son of a World War II veteran, I am reminded of the high price so many of our greatest generation paid for our freedom. And as a Congressman, I have had the privilege to personally meet Missouri veterans who risked their lives on that fateful day. Their selfless service is a reminder of the true greatness of those who heroically helped liberate the world. On this very solemn day of remembrance, I salute those who gave their lives so far from home and those who returned home knowing that their accomplishments will never be forgotten.” ###
