Luetkemeyer Seeks Budding Young District Artists for Annual Congressional Competition

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) is seeking high school students ready to show off their talents in the Annual Congressional Art Competition.

          U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) is seeking high school students ready to show off their talents in the Annual Congressional Art Competition.

“I am pleased to announce that our congressional district will once again participate in the Annual Congressional Art Competition.  This contest provides an excellent opportunity to encourage and recognize the rich artistic talents of our youth,” Luetkemeyer said. “I encourage all students interested to participate in this year’s competition.”

Information about the art competition was sent to high school art teachers today.

The winning entry from the 9th District will not only be recognized in the local competition, but will also be displayed in Washington, D.C.  The winning art piece will join other art pieces from congressional districts around the country in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol.  The 9th District’s winning student will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C. this summer to unveil the winning artwork from around the nation. The winner is also awarded round-trip airfare to Washington, D.C.

All entries must be delivered to Luetkemeyer’s Columbia District Office located at 3809 S Providence Road, Suite A, Columbia, Mo. 65203, by April 4. The winning art piece will hang in the U.S. Capitol and all honorable mentions will be displayed in Luetkemeyer’s congressional offices.
