Luetkemeyer Backs 2012 Budget Plan that Cuts $6.2 Trillion, Puts U.S. on Path to Prosperity

Dealing with our nation's fiscal challenges will require us to have the discipline to do what's right instead of taking the easy way out.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today issued the following statement after voting for a budget plan that cuts $6.2 trillion over the next decade, putting the nation on a path to prosperity:

“Dealing with our nation’s fiscal challenges will require us to have the discipline to do what’s right instead of taking the easy way out. This budget plan is focused on ending wasteful spending, making Washington more efficient, showing respect to hard-working taxpayers, and making the tough choices today that save our children from even tougher choices tomorrow. We don’t have deficits because we are taxed too little; we have deficits because Washington simply spends too much. Success will lead to a stronger economy, less debt, the preservation of the safety net, and more opportunities to pursue the American Dream for future generations, and that is what I am committed to.”
