Recognizing his commitment to job creation and economic prosperity, the Club for Growth today presented U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) with the prestigious “Defender of Economic Freedom Award.” 

The study included a comprehensive examination of each lawmaker’s record on pro-growth policies and computed an Economic Growth Score on a scale of 0 to 100.  A score of 100 indicates the highest support for pro-growth policies.  Those lawmakers scoring 90 or higher receive the Defender of Economic Freedom award. 

“With their scores of 90 and above, these members have demonstrated a clear commitment to economic liberty and growth.  During one of the toughest economic years in memory, they showed that the principles of free enterprise and free markets are the only way to create jobs and rescue our economy,” said Chris Chocola, President of the Club for Growth.

Luetkemeyer, a member of the Small Business Committee, Agriculture Committee, and Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said the recognition by the Club for Growth was a reflection of what he has been hearing from the hard-working people of the 9^th Congressional District.

 “It is important that we remember that our economy is built on individual liberty, entrepreneurship, and equal opportunity that allow folks to earn their success,” Luetkemeyer said. “Rather than relying so heavily on the government to spend our way out of this recession, we need to focus on ensuring our small businesses are able to utilize all the resources already available.”
