Luetkemeyer Supports Rule of Law in Vote on Immigration Bill

As a nation of laws, we have a legal process in place for accepting immigrants into our country which is why I could not support a measure that is nothing more than backdoor amnesty.

Following is a statement from U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) on his vote regarding the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act, DREAM Act, which would grant amnesty for some undocumented immigrants:

“As a nation of laws, we have a legal process in place for accepting immigrants into our country which is why I could not support a measure that is nothing more than backdoor amnesty. We should not be in the habit of rewarding those who commit the crime of entering our country illegally. At a time when our families are struggling to make ends meet, we should not be subsidizing education for illegal immigrants and encouraging even more illegal immigration.”
