After again listening to the voices of hard-working Americans through the YouCut website, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today voted for a proposal to eliminate unnecessary Congressional printing which could save taxpayers up to $35 million dollars in the next 10 years. Even though all bills are available online, the Government Printing Office prints 200 paper copies of each bill or resolution introduced by a Member of Congress and in the last Congress alone, more than 14,000 bills and resolutions were introduced for a grand total of 2.8 million paper copies. It is estimated that Congress will spend approximately $7 million printing bills and resolutions this year. “The American people have made it clear for some time through the YouCut website that they want their elected representatives for cut the fat from the budget, and this is another attempt by us to do just that,” Luetkemeyer said. “We have proposed cuts totaling more than $155 billion so far thanks to suggestions made by Americans who are paying the bill. We will continue to push efforts to reduce government spending.” On the YouCut website each week, Americans have the opportunity to vote on a spending cut, and shortly after all the ideas are processed, Luetkemeyer and his colleagues seek a vote on the most popular spending cut. Luetkemeyer is encouraging folks to visit http://republicanwhip.house.gov/YouCut/and help Washington control government spending. The American people are demanding that Washington take immediate action to cut spending. With the help and support of YouCut voters, House Republicans have offered more than $155 billionin spending cuts, only to be blocked by the current Majority. Since the launch of YouCut, here is what the American people have voted on and wanted to see cut:
