Luetkemeyer Marks 20th Anniversary of Fall of Berlin Wall, Cites Churchill Iron Curtain Speech at Westminster

History was made 20 years ago today when the Iron Curtain first decribed by Winston Churchill at Westminster College in Missouri crumbled under the pressure of President Ronald Reagan's policy of peace through strength.
U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer today made the following statement on the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, which holds special significance for Missouri because of Winston Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech delivered at Westminster College in Fulton:

“History was made 20 years ago today when the Iron Curtain first decribed by Winston Churchill at Westminster College in Missouri crumbled under the pressure of President Ronald Reagan’s policy of peace through strength. Today is also a day to acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet economy was due to the pivotal role played by our men and women in uniform who liberated millions of people from the evils of communism. Without a single shot in anger, the combination of military and economic pressure, and tough diplomacy helped bring down the Iron Curtain that had shrouded Europe and helped usher in a new era of freedom and liberty across the globe.”
