“My first priority has been and will continue to be job creation and holding the line on job-killing taxes,” Luetkemeyer said. “We cannot create more jobs by endlessly taxing people just struggling to make ends meet. Instead, we have to provide more opportunities for our nation’s small businesses to grow and prosper.”
The Expanding Entrepreneurship Act of 2009, part of the Job Creation through Entrepreneurship Act of 2009, makes several changes to the SBA’s entrepreneurial development programs at no cost to taxpayers. The bill also will expand entrepreneurial job growth by pulling resources for duplicative government programs into a streamlined and effective program to help emphasize job creation and retention. The legislation passed the House 406-to-15 on May 20, 2009, and awaits consideration in the Senate.
Luetkemeyer also sponsored the Small Business Investment Company Modernization and Improvement Act of 2009, part of the Small Business Financing and Investment Act of 2009, which updates and streamlines the SBA’s largest investment program, the Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) program. The bill addresses deficiencies in the SBA’s capital access programs to better meet the needs of our nation’s number one job creators, particularly for veteran-owned businesses and businesses located in rural areas. The bill passed 389-to-32 in the House on October 29, 2009, and awaits consideration in the Senate.
