Luetkemeyer Responds to President's Comments During Today's Visit to Republican Retreat in Baltimore

I was pleased to meet with President Obama to discuss bipartisan solutions to the many problems our nation is facing such as out-of-control spending, historic deficits and record debt.
U.S. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) released the following statement today after hearing from President Barack Obama during the House Republican issues retreat today in Baltimore, Maryland:
“I was pleased to meet with President Obama to discuss bipartisan solutions to the many problems our nation is facing such as out-of-control spending, historic deficits and record debt.

“For the past year, my fellow Republicans and I have consistently sought to bring fresh ideas to the table in order to improve the lives of hard-working Americans struggling to make ends meet, and today we presented the President with a copy of Better Solutions, our comprehensive solutions to address the nation’s challenges. It includes our no-cost jobs plan, our strategy to achieve energy independence, a common sense approach to lowering health care costs, and our plan on national security and financial regulatory reform.

“I have maintained all along that any productive discussion to improve the lives of Americans during these tough times must be built on a two-way street and result in meaningful action. I urge the President to consider our ideas so we can begin working to rein in runaway federal spending and advance policies that will put folks back to work.

“We all know that these are difficult times and people back home expect their elected leaders to work together on solutions that will benefit the nation, and I am hopeful that Washington will begin taking decisive action to get our  economy back on track and people back to work.”
