U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) issued the following statement in recognition of Flag Day:

“Today we recognize the establishment of Flag Day to remember and give honor to one of our country’s most enduring symbols, our national flag.  Those special “Stars and Stripes” symbolize our freedom and strength, as well as the American spirit that others around the world have come to know and respect.  Many of our fellow Americans have made tremendous sacrifices to preserve all that it represents.  Sadly, the tradition and honor due to one of our most cherished symbols seems to slip more and more every day. On this special day, we need to again raise awareness of all that is special about our national banner and proudly fly our American Flag.”
