Several members of the Missouri congressional delegation are co-sponsoring Luetkemeyer’s measure.

“As a Missouri farmer I have a special appreciation for Dr. Case’s commitment to agriculture and his exemplary efforts to highlight the importance of agricultural education in our state and our nation,” Luetkemeyer said. “There is an entire generation of farmers who have benefited from Dr. Case’s dedication to the future of agriculture.”

“Dr. Larry Case has made a significant personal impact on the lives of millions of present and former FFA members; in fact, he has shaken hands with and personally congratulated more than 500,000 of them. Dr. Case is the rare servant leader who can leave such a legacy” said National FFA Organization Chief Operating Officer Dwight Armstrong.

Case, who will retire on January 1, 2011, is a former FFA member from Stet, Mo., and earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, master’s degree in vocational education and doctor of education from the University of Missouri. He began his career as an agricultural education instructor in Mendon, Mo., in 1966 and served as the director of agricultural education for the Missouri Department of Agriculture before coming to Washington, D.C. in 1984.

As an advisor, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of the National FFA Organization, Case provided national leadership and advisory service to states for secondary, postsecondary and adult instructional programs relating to agriculture. During Case’s tenure, FFA saw tremendous growth in membership and educational innovation.
