Luetkemeyer: Government Belongs to the American People, Not Elected Officials

On this Constitution Day, Americans must be wary of the expanding reach of government and remember that the Constitution begins with the three most powerful words in our democracy: ‘We The People.' It is just as important today, as it was during the drafting of our Constitution, that we also remember that government belongs to the people and not to the individual politicians chosen to represent them.
U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) issued the following statement in recognition of Constitution Day:
“On this Constitution Day, Americans must be wary of the expanding reach of government and remember that the Constitution begins with the three most powerful words in our democracy: ‘We The People.’ It is just as important today, as it was during the drafting of our Constitution, that we also remember that government belongs to the people and not to the individual politicians chosen to represent them.”

“For more than 200 years, our Constitution has not only protected our rights and freedoms but it also served as a blueprint for true democratic ideals that have since spread across the globe.”
