U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today announced the opportunity for young artists living in the 9th Congressional District to display their talents as part of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today announced the opportunity for young artists living in the 9th Congressional District to display their talents as part of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition. Information about the art competition has been sent to high school art teachers.

“We have had some outstanding works of art that have won this competition in the past,” Luetkemeyer said. “With so much young talent out there, I am excited about what we’ll see from our students this year.”

The winning entry from the 9th District will not only be recognized in the local competition, but will also be displayed in Washington, D.C.  The winning art piece will join other works of art from congressional districts around the country in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol.  The 9th District’s winning student will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C. this summer to unveil the winning artwork from around the nation. The winner is also awarded round-trip airfare to Washington, D.C.

All entries must be delivered to Luetkemeyer’s Columbia District Office located at 3809 South Providence Road, Suite A, Columbia, Mo. 65203, by April 20. The winning art piece will hang in the U.S. Capitol and all honorable mentions will be displayed in Luetkemeyer’s congressional offices.
