Furthering his commitment of vigorously defending the Second Amendment, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) has signed onto a letter  to President Obama voicing concerns shared by many law-abiding Americans regarding the president’s gun control legislative package.

The letter, originated by Rep. Dan Benishek (R-MI) and signed by 77 legislators, outlines that Members of Congress want a discussion about how to proceed after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in a manner that is consistent with our nation’s rights and values.

“It is of the upmost importance that Congress and the president come together to have an open-minded and thoughtful discussion regarding gun violence in our nation that respects the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and enthusiasts,” Luetkemeyer said. “The administration has said it wants transparency, and this is the first step – holding an open discussion on this national issue. We must get to the root of unanswered questions about the reasons that troubled individuals have been able to misuse these instruments.”
