In an attempt to get Americans back to work and create greater energy security, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) supported legislation that would clear the roadblocks that are preventing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and issued the following statement:

“It has been more than four years since the initial Keystone XL pipeline proposal went before the Obama Administration and there has been one delay after another despite widespread agreement that the project would have no significant impact on the environment. I am a proud co-sponsor of this bill because the Keystone XL pipeline will not only help bring down the price of gas at the pumps but the end result will be the creation of 20,000 jobs and the reduction of our dependence on foreign oil which will jump-start our economy.”

In the 112th Congress, the House of Representatives voted six times for construction of the pipeline but the U.S. Senate never acted on the legislation.
