Luetkemeyer’s Missouri River Amendments Save Taxpayers Money and Help Communities

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) successfully led efforts in the House to pass two critical amendments prohibiting funding of the Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan (MRERP) and the Missouri River Authorized Purposes Study (MRAPS).

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) successfully led efforts in the House to pass two critical amendments prohibiting funding of the Missouri River Ecosystem Restoration Plan (MRERP) and the Missouri River Authorized Purposes Study (MRAPS).

“I am pleased that my colleagues in the House joined me in an effort to halt funding for MRERP and MRAPS,” Luetkemeyer said. “These duplicative and wasteful programs are not the solutions to the needs of Missourians living along the river. Residents and businesses living along the river deserve meaningful action to prevent flooding and promote commerce, not studies."

The Luetkemeyer amendments were adopted as part of the Energy and Water Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2014. Luetkemeyer has successfully halted funding for both MRERP and MRAPS in Fiscal Years 2012 and 2013.
