House Financial Services Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) issued the following statement on the day of the Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) 50 year anniversary: “After 50 years of experience and over one trillion dollars in appropriations, HUD has repeatedly failed to deliver results to American people. The Government Accountability Office reported that 20 different federal government entities administer 160 programs that support homeownership and rental housing. Yet, despite the massive number of these programs, HUD has failed to achieve its goals of providing affordable housing. Things have to change at HUD because it isn’t on a sustainable path for another five years, let alone another 50 years.” |
