U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) and Missouri colleagues sent a letter to Missouri Governor Jay Nixon calling on him to oppose Syrian refugees in the state.

U.S. Reps. Billy Long, Jason Smith, Vicky Hartzler, Ann Wagner, and Sam Graves joined Luetkemeyer in sending the letter to Nixon.

“The recent attacks in Paris served as an agonizing reminder that terrorism remains an imminent threat to Americans.  As multiple governors across the country have now announced they will oppose any effort of the administration to relocate Syrian refugees in their states, we request that you direct the Missouri Department of Social Services Refugee Resettlement Program to use all available resources to prevent the resettlement of any Syrian refugees in the State of Missouri unless exhaustive and comprehensive security screenings conclude that no individuals constitute any threat to national security. As the governor of the State of Missouri, it is your duty to act in the best interest of the state’s citizens; therefore, we ask you make an unequivocal stance that Syrian resettlement in Missouri places our citizens at risk.”
