Luetkemeyer Introduces Legislation to Dedicate Post Office After 3rd District Soldier

Today, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) introduced legislation to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service in Pacific as the “Specialist Jeffrey L. White, Jr. Post Office.”

Today, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) introduced legislation to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service in Pacific as the “Specialist Jeffrey L. White, Jr. Post Office.”

“Specialist White dedicated his life to protecting our country,” Luetkemeyer said. “It is my great honor to work to dedicate a Post Office where he grew up in memory of him. I would like to thank my colleagues in the Missouri delegation for lending their support of this legislation and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House so we can bring this bill to the floor in the coming months.”

U.S. Army Specialist Jeffrey L. White, Jr. grew up in Catawissa and attended Pacific High School and graduated in 2008. In October, 2009, White joined the U.S. Army and graduated from basic training, advanced training and the basic airborne course at Fort Benning, GA. White was assigned to the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK, where he deployed in December, 2011 for Afghanistan. White passed away on April 3, 2012, from injuries sustained by an improvised explosive device that detonated near his unit in the Khost province of Afghanistan.

White’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge; Basic Parachutist Badge; Combat and Special Skill Badge Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge; and the Overseas Service Bar.
