Today, the House of Representatives passed a major regulatory reform package. Included in the legislation is Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer’s (MO-03) recently introduced legislation, H.R. 77, the Providing Accountability Through Transparency Act.

“I am incredibly pleased that H.R. 77, and the entire Regulatory Accountability Act, is one of the first bills to pass in the 115th Congress,” Luetkemeyer said. “Today’s bipartisan vote demonstrates the House’s commitment to cutting federal red tape and reversing the regulatory onslaught that has buried American families and small businesses over the last eight years. I look forward to the Senate passing this legislation and President-Elect Trump signing it into law.”

"The Regulatory Accountability Act is a major step to reverse the negative effects regulations are having on our economy," Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte said. "The bill promotes making the regulatory process more transparent for the American people and increases the power of the people’s elected representatives."

The package, the Regulatory Accountability Act, is a group of reform bills that are aimed to curb the runaway regulatory state that our nation has become while also saving taxpayer dollars. It brings together six separate reform bills that have already passed the House of Representatives in previous Congresses.

H.R. 77 would require each government agency, in providing notice of a rule making, to include a link to a 100 word plain language summary of the proposed rule.

In the 114th Congress, Luetkemeyer’s legislation passed in the House of Representatives.
