Luetkemeyer Introduces Legislation to Defund United Nations’ Green Climate Fund

Today, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) introduced legislation that would prevent American taxpayer dollars from being used for the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund.

The legislation, the No Tax Dollars for the United Nations’ Climate Agenda Act, would prevent any taxpayer dollars from being used to fund the U.N.’s International Panel on Climate Change, Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Green Climate Fund, or any of the Climate Investment Funds.

“Just hours before the end of President Obama’s term, he sent another $500 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars to the unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats at the United Nation’s Green Climate Fund,” Luetkemeyer said. “There has now been $1 billion in contributions over the last 10 months, however, Congress has never authorized or appropriated money for these programs. Working with President Trump, Congress now has a real opportunity to defund these global warming programs once and for all and I look forward to finally cutting off the previous administration’s frivolous slush fund.”
