Luetkemeyer Supports Sending Government Funding Bill to the President’s Desk

Today, the United States Senate and House of Representatives passed legislation to fund the government for the remainder of the fiscal year, sending it to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement after he supported the legislation:

“Facing Democratic opposition more focused on politics than policy, my Republican colleagues on the Conference Committee did their best to find a compromise under these circumstances. Unfortunately, after three weeks of negotiations, we were left with two choices: a bill with some wall funding or no bill and a government shutdown.” said Congressman Luetkemeyer. “As your Representative, it is my responsibility to put the safety of Missourians and the security of our nation above all else. While I believe this bill is lacking some critical border funding, it will keep our government open, fund Missouri priorities and provide some much-needed resources to secure our border. Thankfully, our President understands that we are facing a critical humanitarian crisis at the border and will be taking additional action to protect our citizens and secure this nation.”
