Luetkemeyer Implores Appropriations Leaders to Protect the Unborn

Joined by 83 Republican Members of Congress, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) sent a letter to Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro and Ranking Member Tom Cole urging them to include language protecting the unborn. Congressman Luetkemeyer released the following statement:

“At a time when protecting babies is, unbelievably, a partisan issue, I’m urging leaders on the Appropriations Committee to do what is right and support one of our most vulnerable populations. I implore my colleagues to strengthen conscience protections for healthcare providers, maintain the integrity of our nation’s vital medial research, and end taxpayer subsidies for Planned Parenthood,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer. “Not only has President Trump made it clear he will veto any legislation that undermines or nullifies existing pro-life policy, but including these provisions is simply the right thing to do. Every life matters, and I will continue to do everything in my power to protect those who cannot protect themselves.”

Fellow Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartlzer (MO-04), Chairwoman of the House Values Action Team, joined Congressman Luetkemeyer on this important letter. “I applaud Rep. Luetkemeyer’s efforts to bolster conscience protections for health care providers, end funding to the abortion industry, and respect the sanctity of life at all stages. We must give a voice to the voiceless: those in the womb, who cannot speak for themselves, and those who are forced to choose between following their beliefs and keeping their job,” said Congresswoman Hartzler. “I am pleased to join with Rep. Luetkemeyer in addressing multiple aspects of government funding that can be redirected to affirm life.”
