Luetkemeyer Introduces Legislation to Improve Flood Control Plan for Upper Mississippi River

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) introduced the Upper Mississippi River Flood Control Act which will require the Secretary of the Army Corps of Engineers to submit a flood plan for the Upper Mississippi River to Congress by January 1, 2021. The bill requires the plan to guarantee that all stakeholders have a voice with the Army Corps and ensures that agricultural districts are fairly compensated following a flood.

“Missouri and the entire Upper Mississippi River Basin saw historic flooding in 2019 and have endured devasting losses as a result,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer. “I’m proud to introduce the Upper Mississippi River Flood Control Act in order to make much needed improvements to current flood protocols and ensure Missouri farms and communities are provided with the necessary relief."
