Luetkemeyer on Articles of Impeachment: This is a Sad Day for Our Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding today’s announcement that the House Judiciary Committee will pursue two articles of impeachment against President Trump.

“This is a sad day for our country. Despite an unconstitutional investigation and a complete lack of evidence, House Democrats are formally introducing the articles of impeachment of President Trump.

“Just last week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Democrats have been pursuing impeachment for ‘a couple of years – two and a half.’ With that statement, the Speaker confirmed what we already knew: this ‘investigation’ has been nothing more than a political show from the beginning. The manufactured outrage over a phone call and the failed Mueller investigation were merely thinly-veiled attempts to justify the conclusion Democrats formed the day President Trump was elected.

“Despite months of dishonestly from Adam Schiff and countless hours of testimony from Democrat donors, the facts have not changed. There was no announcement of an investigation; Ukraine has in fact received aid from the United States; and President Zelensky has repeatedly confirmed there was no quid pro quo or pressure. It is clear that this is an all-consuming obsession for House Democrats. Instead of working with the President and Republicans to support the United States’ historic economic success, their three-year temper tantrum appears to be headed toward the next phase.”
