Luetkemeyer and Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis Hold Briefing on the Impact of Coronavirus on America’s Nursing Homes

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today in a briefing entitled “The Devastating Impact of the Coronavirus Crisis on America’s Nursing Homes” in the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) delivered the following remarks to the committee and witnesses.

“55% of the deaths now are from nursing homes… kids are at less risk for COVID than the regular flu… and over 60% of deaths are people over the age of 75. So, it is a very targeted disease.

“One of the things we’ve learned, I think going forward is because this is a very targeted disease, we should be able… to maintain and manage those [at risk] in a way that could minimize their risk as well as open up the rest of society.”
