WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding an announcement from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) regarding their “Fair Access Rule.” “For years I have been fighting the harmful Obama-era initiative, ‘Operation Choke Point.’ Today’s announcement from the OCC gets America another step closer to putting it completely behind us. Operation Choke Point sought to eliminate legally operating American businesses only because they did not fit within the Obama Administration’s political ideals. The Fair Access Rule will ensure all legal American companies have full and fair access to financial services and the economic freedom they deserve.” Background: In 2019, the House passed Congressman Luetkemeyer’s legislation to end Operation Choke Point, the Financial Institution Customer Protection Act, by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 395-2.
