Luetkemeyer on State Small Business Credit Initiative in House Reconciliation Package: Not an Immediate Response to an Immediate Problem

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) delivered the following remarks at the full House Financial Services Committee markup of a portion of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package, including the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) which does not require funding to be used until 2030.

"The SSBCI provision in the bill is clearly written to give states money well into the future with little immediate benefit to workers and job creators… Just stop and think about what kind of message we are sending to American businesses by establishing a program where states may not receive all the funding until 5 years from now. While it appears some governors would like to keep small businesses shut down for the next 5 years, we need to be focusing on the next 5 weeks.”
