Luetkemeyer Statement on Omarova Senate Hearing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03), Ranking Member on the House Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions Subcommittee released a statement ahead of Professor Saule Omarova’s nomination hearing in the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.

“The fact that a USSR native who firmly believes in the virtue of communist rule, would like to enact policies to 'end banking as we know it,' and has a stated goal of putting U.S. energy companies out of business, was nominated to serve any role in the U.S. government is as unbelievable as it is alarming. Professor Omarova is one of, if not the most, radical nominee who has come before Congress in recent history. I certainly hope my Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle understand that having her as the primary bank regulator in this country would be absolutely devastating to our financial system and the American economy.”
