Luetkemeyer on the One Year Anniversary of Tragic Kabul Airport Bombing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding the one year anniversary of the Kabul airport bombing that killed 13 American servicemembers.

“One year ago today, the lives of 13 American heroes were cut short. A suicide bomber took the lives of 13 U.S. servicemembers and an estimated 170 civilians at the Kabul airport. One of the Americans killed was Wentzville-native Marine Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz who was just 20 years old. This was a heartbreaking day for our country, and a personal one for the Third District. Because of heroes like these 13, we are able to continue living in freedom. We will never forget their bravery and are forever indebted to their families for their sacrifice,” said Luetkemeyer.
