U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) announced today that he will again host a Veterans Benefits Workshop to better help 3rd Congressional District residents who have served our country better understand requirements for filing service-related claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as well as those seeking possible employment opportunities.

The workshop, at which Luetkemeyer will lead a discussion and staff will be on hand to assist veterans, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27, in Lake Ozark, Missouri, at the historic Willmore Lodge,  1 Willmore Lane. Signs will be posted outside the venue directing visitors where to go.

The workshop provides free advice and guidance for those that need assistance when filing their veterans claims applications, completing necessary documents as well as understanding how the VA processes claims. A variety of veterans service organizations will be on hand including representatives from the following groups: Missouri Veterans Commission; American Legion; Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office; Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital; Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center - St. Louis; and lawyers from the Missouri Bar Association.

The workshop this year will also host officials from the Missouri Department of Economic Development who will be available to assist veterans seeking employment opportunities.

“At a time when there has been increased awareness about issues facing our military veterans, it is more important than ever that we work to ensure that our veterans have the information and access they need to access the services they deserve from the Department of Veterans Affairs while also providing some of our veterans with possible employment opportunities as they make the transition back to civilian life,” Luetkemeyer said. “We have had great success serving our veterans with these workshops in the past and we’re looking forward to continue doing so.”

The workshop is the fourth overall hosted by Luetkemeyer, with the first held in Washington, Mo., in 2012 with subsequent workshops in Jefferson City and Troy.
