LUETKEMEYER STATEMENT ON BUDGET DEBATE

| Posted in Press Releases

We voted in the House 45 days ago to cut spending and keep the government running for the rest of the year, but instead of working with us, the administration and Senate leadership have been actively rooting for a government shutdown. Even as we work to cut current spending, Republicans are using next year's budget to offer honest solutions to the country's growing debt crisis.

Luetkemeyer Backs Government Shutdown Prevention Act, Allows $106 Billion in Savings, No Congressional Pay

| Posted in Press Releases

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today supported the Government Shutdown Prevention Act, which would provide $106.5 billion in savings compared to the president's Fiscal Year 2011 budget request and would, in the event of a government shutdown, prevent lawmakers and the president from being paid for the duration of the government shutdown.

Reflecting his support for fiscal accountability in Washington and the need for a balanced budget amendment at the federal level, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) has joined the Congressional Balanced Budget Amendment Caucus, which will serve as a resource for members of Congress on issues related to a balanced budget amendment.

Luetkemeyer Backs Bill Repealing Costly, Redundant Government Agricultural Regulations

| Posted in Press Releases

Continuing his support for our nation's agricultural community and his commitment to reducing burdensome and unnecessary federal regulations, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) voted for legislation that will reduce costly and redundant regulatory burdens forced on America's hard-working farmers and ranchers by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Luetkemeyer Statement on First Anniversary of Disastrous Health-Care Law

All American families deserve access to high-quality, affordable health coverage, but Obamacare fails to do any of this. It raises premiums, suffocates economic growth that costs jobs, makes damaging cuts to Medicare while also paving the way for federally funded abortions, Luetkemeyer said. "When I voted against this bill a year ago, I vowed to continue seeking ways to defund this legislation, and I have not wavered from that commitment. The job-killing health-care law is simply the wrong prescription for dealing with the health-care challenges facing our country, and 71 percent of Missourians made it clear they felt the same way when they went to the polls in August 2010."

Luetkemeyer Backs $6 Billion in Spending Cuts

| Posted in Press Releases

I support the short-term continuing resolution that would cut $6 billion in spending. It's time for Senate Democrats and President Obama to finally embrace the notion that the spending status quo is unacceptable, and come forward with their own proposals to fund the government through the end of Fiscal Year 2011.

Luetkemeyer Praises $4 Billion in Spending Cuts

| Posted in Press Releases

I proudly voted in favor of the $4 billion in spending cuts so that we can responsibly keep the government running for the next two weeks and avoid a government shutdown. This short-term measure will reduce the spending of hard-earned taxpayer dollars through terminations and reductions that the president called for in his budget request, while cutting out earmarks that had previously been funded.
